2. 12th G20 summit began at the German city of Hamburg.

3. Indian Institute of Science has received initial approvals from the govt to set up a Rs 3,000-crore foundry to produce a wonder nano material, gallium nitride.

4. 122 countries approved the treaty to ban nuclear weapons at the UN meeting. One country the Netherlands voting against while Singapore abstained.

5. Saima Wazed Hossain has been appointed as the WHO goodwill ambassador for autism in South-East Asia.

6. Guruswamy Jayraman, has been awarded Order of Australia for community work, the highest civilian award in Australia.

7. ‘Grand Trunk Road’ launched by British government to mark 70th anniversary of India’s partition.

8. Sandeep Chakravorty,  India’s Ambassador to Peru.

9. PV Sindhu: ‘Sportsperson of the Year’

10. Private life insurance company Canara HSBC Oriental Bank of Commerce Life Insurance has entered into an alliance with Dhanlaxmi Bank for marketing various life insurance products.
