- Ministries of Power and Textiles have joined hands under a new initiative SAATHI (Sustainable and Accelerated Adoption of efficient Textile technologies to Help small Industries).
- Madras high court banned the use of pictures of living persons on banners and hoardings in Tamil Nadu.
- $65.5 million loan agreement between Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India to check coastal erosion on the Western Coast in Karnataka.
Takehiko Nakao is the President of ADB. ADB Headquarters in Manila, Philippines. - Supreme Court has fined of Rs 2 lakh on the Union Environment Ministry for not fixing the pollution emission standards of Sulphur Dioxide and Nitrogen Oxide for 34 categories of industries as per May 2 order. SC banned using pet coke and furnace oil in Delhi and the NCR to control the air pollution.
- Saudi Arabia has become the first country to give a robot citizenship. The Robot is named as 'Sophia'.
- Minister for Commerce and Industry, Suresh Prabhu launched the official website for the Cell for IPR Promotion and Management of the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion. The CIPAM website is interactive and provides regular updates on all upcoming events.
- As per ‘Global Passport Power Rank 2017’, compiled by international financial advisory firm Arton Capital, passport of Singapore is now the “most powerful” passport in the world.
- Electric car maker Tesla has set up its first electric car manufacturing plant outside the US at Shangai in China.
- RBI has imposed penalties on two private sector banks, Yes Bank & IDFC Bank for regulatory violations. Monetary penalty has been imposed for non-compliance of RBI’s guidelines on Income Recognition Asset Classification & delayed reporting of information security incident involving ATMs of the bank.
- Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) has received an award from All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for supporting start-ups. Sunil Shukla is the present Director of EDII. The AICTE awards recognize outstanding achievement by academic and research institutes of India in actively promoting and supporting innovation and start-ups in their campuses.
- Odisha will be the ‘Focus State’ in the World Food India (WFI)-2017, the international food event to be held at New Delhi from 3 to 5 November 2017.
