- Government of India launched New Fund Offer (NFO) for BHARAT-22 Exchange Traded Fund (ETF). An exchange-traded fund (ETF) is an investment fund traded on stock exchanges, just like stocks.
- Kolkata launched ‘Youth for Business-Y4BIZ’. Under this programme, a group of 50 young entrepreneurs will be supported to transform their business ideas from the initial stage to a sustainable business model.
- Bihar State Government gave approval for setting up a ‘State Ayush Society’ with an aim to promote the usage of alternative medicine in the state. ‘State Ayush Society’ will be set up as part of Central Government’s “National Ayush Mission”. It will be registered under the Society Registration Act.
- ‘Saubhagya’ Web Portal http://saubhagya.gov.in launched by Ministry of State (IC) for Power and New & Renewable Energy. The Saubhagya Dashboard is a platform for monitoring household electrification progress, which would disseminate information on Household Electrification Status.
- BEST (BSE Electronic Smart Trader) launched by Marketplace Tech Infra Services, an arm of the premier exchange BSE. BEST is an advanced hosted trading solution built on Thomson Reuters Omnesys NEST platform. The new platform will facilitate smooth trading for BSE customers across multiple exchanges, including the BSE, NSE, MCX and NCDEX for a wide range of investment categories.
- Eminent chartered accountant Sethurathnam Ravi has been appointed as the chairman of the leading Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).
- BSE Institute Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of BSE Ltd. has signed an MoU with DLT Labs to set up India’s first state-of-the-art Block Chain Lab in Mumbai. The objective is to provide knowledge-driven, in-class education and training in the field of financial technology. Block Chain technology has multiple utility in various sectors including global supply chains and financial transactions.
- RBI Governor Urjit Patel was appointed to the Financial Stability Institute Advisory Board of the Bank of International Settlement.
- Power Minister R K Singh launched a National Power Portal (NPP), a centralised platform for collation and dissemination of Indian power sector information. The portal may be accessed at http://npp.gov.in.
- The International Solar Alliance has announced a target to support setting up 1000GW of solar energy capacity by 2030 across its member countries. This initiative by India to harness the untapped resource of sunshine-rich countries was launched at the Paris climate talks in 2015.
- Japan will simplify its visa rules for Indians from January 2018 and issue a multiple-entry visa for short-term stays. Multiple entry visas with a validity of max 5 years & stay of max 90 days will be issued to applicants who have travel records to Japan twice or more. Indian students may submit a certificate of student status or graduation instead of the document to prove financial capability.
- Syria has officially signed the Paris Agreement on climate change. Syria has become the 169th of 196 countries that are members of the UN climate convention to take the legal step of ratification. Paris agreement on climate change is an agreement within the UNFCCC dealing with greenhouse gas emissions mitigation, adaptation and finance.
- Nagaland became the first among the North Eastern states to launch Point of Sale (PoS) for electricity bill payment. Through the PoS, a consumer can make cashless payment of the electricity bills, which is in line with India’s digitisation.
- Uttar Pradesh has topped in opening new Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) accounts after demonetisation (post-November 8, 2017).
- Karnataka unveiled an ambitious project to install Wi-Fi facility in all gram panchayats across the state.
- 4th Global Conference on Sustained Eradication of Child Labour was held in Buenos Aires, Argentina. This Conference was jointly organised by Government of Argentina and International Labour Organization.
- UN Peacekeeping Defence Ministerial Conference 2017 was held in Vancouver, Canada.
- 12th North-East Business Summit has started in Delhi.
- 31st ASEAN Summit Summits were held in Manila, the Philippines.
- India has ranked 14th out of 56 nations and European Union on Climate Change Performance Index 2018 released by environmental organisation Germanwatch.
