- 1 December is celebrated as World AIDS Day. AIDS stands for Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome. The theme for World AIDS day 2017 is 'Right to health'.
- Dia Mirza was appointed as UN Environment’s Goodwill Ambassador for India.
- Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2017 was held in Hyderabad.
- Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has asked co-operative societies not use the word ‘Bank’ in their names as it violates the Banking Regulation Act.
- Karnataka government appointed senior woman IAS officer K Ratna Prabha as the new chief secretary of Karnataka.
- Jai Kisaan App launched by Goa Chief Minister, Manohar Parrikar. This app is a one-stop solution for agricultural information and cultivation.
- The International Monetary Fund has approved a new USD 88 billion credit line for Mexico, replacing the existing line.
- India and Singapore sign agreement on enhancing naval cooperation. The agreement will enhance security of sea lanes between the two countries.
- Pakistan's law minister Zahid Hamid has quit as the Civilian government surrendered to the wishes of hardline religious groups.
- The Competition Commission (CCI) imposed a fine of Rs 52.24 crore on the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for anti-competitive practices with respect to the Indian Premier League.
- Google launched Datally App to understand, control and save users mobile data themselves. Datally App will enable users to track their data usage in real time, and get personalized recommendations on saving data along with notifications of nearby available public Wi-Fi spots.
- Telangana Minister for IT and Industries KT Rama Rao stated that 3 initiatives for women entrepreneurs including setting up ‘We-Hub’ on the lines of T-Hub and also to create Rs 15 crore fund.
- Hindustan Times Leadership Summit (HTLS) 2017 was held in New Delhi. The theme of this summit is “The Irreversible Rise of India”.
- The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved setting up of National Nutrition Mission (NNM) with a three year budget of Rs.9046.17 crore commencing from 2017-18.
- Joint Indo-United Kingdom (UK) army training exercise ‘Ajeya Warrior 2017’ begun at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges, Bikaner, Rajasthan.
- The Union Cabinet has approved the signing of a MoU between India and Italy for cooperation in Agriculture and Phytosanitary issues.
- In London “Lipstick Under My Burkha”, which explores women’s sexuality, has bagged a top prize at the tve Global Sustainability Film Awards 2017. ”Lipstick Under My Burkha” is produced by Prakash Jha and directed by Alankrita Shrivastava and stars Konkona SenSharma and Ratna Pathak Shah.
- The government has fixed 2,952 rupees per gram as price of new series of sovereign gold bonds (SGBs). Sovereign Gold Bonds are Government securities denominated in multiples of gram(s) of gold. They are substitute for investment in physical gold. To buy the bond, investor has to pay the issue price in cash to an authorized SEBI Broker. These Bonds are issued by the Reserve Bank of India on behalf of the Government of India and are traded on stock exchange.
