Finance
Minister Arun Jaitley’s delivered his fifth and last full Budget Union Budget 2018-19. Budget focused
on agriculture sector. The government will set up a fund of Rs 2,000 crore for developing
agricultural markets.
- The government is targeting to construct two crore new toilets in the next financial year, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley announced during his budget speech.
- Arun Jaitley announced ₹56,619 crore for SC welfare and ₹39,135 crore for ST welfare.
- Arun Jaitley said that the government has allocated ₹14.3 lakh crore to be spent for rural infrastructure.
- Arun Jaitley announced ₹10,000 crore for the fisheries and aqua-culture and animal husbandry fund, during his Budget speech.
- Arun Jaitley announced that eight crore poor women will be provided with free LPG connections under the Ujjwala scheme.
- Government will now contribute 12% of employee provident fund to the new employees in all sections for the next 3 years.
- Arun Jaitley has announced the world’s largest government-funded healthcare programme with ₹5 lakh annual cover per family for 10 crore poor families.
- Arun Jaitley on Thursday announced that the President’s monthly salary will be increased to ₹5 lakh from the earlier ₹1.5 lakh.
- Arun Jaitley while presenting the Union Budget for the year 2018-19 announced that no change has been made in the personal income tax rates.
